EEDC Vandalism Criminals face the law

After a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Enugu, 2 have been jailed while 12 are in police custody for vandalising EEDC Installations.

Mr. Istifanus, one of the criminals, was sentenced to seven years imprisonment by the court. The said criminal was jailed by Magistrate J.O Umezurike for stealing stealing armoured cables, property of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC.

This is an offence punishable under section 353(L) of the Criminal Code Cap 30 Vol. II Revised Laws of Enugu State of Nigeria 2004.

Mr. Ajama Emmanuel Emeka was was also sentenced to six months imprisonment at the Federal High Court, Enugu Judicial Division.

Mr. Emeka Ezeh, disclosed that ten suspected vandals and two buyers in all were also apprehended at various police stations within the South East for their roles in vandalising electrical installations belonging to the company.

According to Ezeh, two members of a gang, identified as Sunday Obilo and Chukwunonso Moses, were apprehended by some vigilant members of the public at New Owerri, Imo State.
